Oman's delegation was led by Dr. Mohammed Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs. In its closing statement, the conference stressed the Islamic World's firm position supporting the just Palestinian cause, the need to grant the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and to protect them against the brutal attacks and genocide staged by the occupation forces, notably in the Gaza Strip. In particular, the conference laid emphasis on the need to grant the Palestinian people their legitimate rights, including their right to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Al Quds A'Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital. It also called for establishment of a just and lasting peace. The closing statement urged the international community and all official, civil, charitable, humanitarian and relief organizations to support the Palestinian people in this ordeal and help end their suffering. The conference underscored the necessity of Islamic countries' preserving unity, being one of the greatest principles of Islam, and the avoidance of anything that might lead to division or rebellion against the Muslim community or its leaders. It cautioned that division/rebellion entail immense corruption, bloodshed, the violation of sanctities and the incitement of sectarianism.
