Joint initiative launched by Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry, LMRA to provide workspace for non-resident diplomatic missions

Manama, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) have launched an initiative to provide workspaces for non-resident diplomatic missions at LMRA's headquarters. The initiative aims to simplify procedures for Bahraini businesses and residents, streamline worker document verification, and offer foreign communities easier access to consular services in a single location. The initiative opened with hosting representatives from the Kenyan Embassy in Kuwait, who met with the Kenyan community in Bahrain at the new workspace provided by LMRA. Additional non-resident embassies and consulates are expected to use the space in the future. Nibras Mohammed Talib, CEO of LMRA, and Dr. Issa Nasser Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited the workspace to examine its work mechanism. Talib emphasised that this initiative enhances cooperation with foreign embassies, supports document verificati on, and improves access to consular services. He said it also contributes to resolving challenges facing business owners and expatriate workers, which include renewing official documents and work permits, rectifying the status of workers, and obtaining travel documents. The LMRA CEO praised the collaboration between government bodies, noting its role in advancing Bahrain's efforts to create a stable labour market and combat human trafficking. Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted the positive response from non-resident embassies and affirmed the Ministry's commitment to improving consular services through continued coordination with other government agencies. The initiative to provide workspaces for non-resident accredited diplomatic missions has been launched as a practical solution to challenges facing some expatriate communities, whose countries do not have permanent diplomatic representation in Bahrain. This had caused delay in essential consular services, such as passport renewals, obtaining official documents, a nd legal assistance in emergency situations, and had caused incidents related to the legal status of the workers due to this delay.
