Tarif, The King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has documented over 290 bird species within the reserve. Of these, 88% are migratory birds passing through, while 12% are resident species, representing 58% of the total bird species recorded in Saudi Arabia. Notably, 26 species listed as globally threatened are present in the reserve, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The authority's periodic monitoring and follow-up programs focus on protecting these species and their habitats. The reserve is the Kingdom's primary destination for migratory birds from Asia and Europe during autumn migration and the last stop for birds returning from Africa in spring. Its balanced environment and diverse terrain make it a natural refuge for these species.
