Kuwait City: The Fourth Dushanbe Conference commenced in Kuwait today under the theme "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Broader Security Mechanisms - The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process." This two-day high-level event is attended by over 450 participants, including 33 ministers, representatives from UN specialized agencies, 23 international and regional organizations, and 13 civil society organizations. According to Oman News Agency, this conference is a continuation of the "Dushanbe process for combating terrorism" initiated by Tajikistan in 2018. It follows previous conferences held in Dushanbe in 2018, 2019, and 2022, marking the fourth installment in this series. The conference serves as a critical platform to bolster regional and international cooperation on border security, aiming to tackle terrorism and its financing. It offers a venue for participants to share experiences, discuss lessons learned, and devise strategies to address threats posed by terro rism. The event will conclude tomorrow with the adoption of the "Kuwait Declaration on Border Security and Management," encapsulating the discussions and viewpoints of the attendees. This declaration aims to guide efforts in combating terrorism and enhancing capacity in border security management. Kuwait's hosting of the conference underscores its commitment to its international and regional role in countering terrorism and its financing. It reflects Kuwait's support for global and regional initiatives aimed at eradicating the phenomenon of terrorism, which poses challenges to both international and regional security.
