The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Guidance on Tuesday issued the following statement: "In light of the escalating and brutal attacks by the Israeli enemy on various Lebanese regions, resulting in casualties, injuries, and significant destruction, the Army Command wishes to clarify that the Lebanese Army, deployed across the entire nation, including the southern borders, is fulfilling its national responsibilities. It sacrifices lives while maintaining its readiness to defend the land within the available means, based on decisions and directives from political authorities to do what is deemed necessary for the protection of Lebanon and the military institution, in accordance with Resolution 1701 and its provisions in close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)." The statement added: "Some media outlets are launching campaigns of slander, false accusations, and treason against the military institution and its leadership for narrow interests and political purposes. Th e Army Command confirms it will not engage in disputes or competitions, as it is not concerned with any files or obligations. The priority today for the leadership is to protect the institution, maintain its cohesion, stop the aggression, support citizens, address the displacement crisis, and continue rescue operations in coordination with relevant agencies, while preserving civil peace and internal stability." The statement emphasized: "Experience has shown that the army is the backbone of Lebanon and a guarantee for all Lebanese, highlighting the importance of their support. We look forward to the success of international efforts to halt Israeli aggression as soon as possible." It concluded: "The army remains united in the determination, faith, and will of its soldiers, and in the unity of the Lebanese around its unifying role. What is required today is to maintain national unity to safeguard Lebanon, which will overcome this ordeal as it has previous crises and challenges." Source: National news agency - Lebanon
