Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, saw that "the Israeli enemy army's declaration of the cessation of the military operations in Gaza Strip does not necessarily mean that the war has ended," adding the enemy "only succeeded in destroying the Strip and perpetrating massacres against humanity." "The alleged declaration could be aimed at alleviating the popular pressure on Netanyahu's government," Makary told Kuwait's Al-Anba newspaper. Pertaining to the failure to elect a president of the Lebanese republic, Makary said that the problem lies in the opponent political camp, reiterating that Marada Movement chief, Sleiman Frangieh, is the final candidate of the political camp to which he (Makary) belongs. Makary saw that there is no exit of the presidential crisis for the time being given the ongoing developments and current situation in the region. Asked about Hezbollah's imposing Frangieh, Makary answered: "If Hezbollah could impose a candidate, it wouldn't wait until the end of the war." He c ontinued that Frangieh's hand is extended to all the Christian sides without any exception. Moreover, he said that if the presidential stalemate continues until 2026, the parliamentary elections will be certainly affected. "Lebanon would definitely witness the extension of the term of the current parliament; this is where the real murderer of the Lebanese republic lies," he concluded.
