Muscat: Lionel Messi returned to training with his club Inter Miami today, ten days after Argentina's defeat to Spain in the FIFA World Cup final. The Argentine star was seen entering the training ground alongside his Inter Miami teammate, Uruguayan forward Luis Suárez, in a video shared by the club on social media. According to Oman News Agency, following the 1-0 loss to Spain in the final held on July 19 in New Jersey, Messi spent time with his family in his hometown of Rosario. The 39-year-old had hoped to lead Argentina to a second consecutive world title and a fourth overall, but the Spanish side denied him that achievement, lifting the trophy for the second time in their history, their first having come 16 years earlier in South Africa in 2010. No official date has yet been announced for Messi's return to competitive matches. Inter Miami are set to face Columbus Crew on Saturday in league action, before kicking off their campaign in the Leagues Cup-the joint competition between Major League Soccer and Mexico's Liga MX-on Wednesday against San Luis.
