Muscat: Microsoft has revealed a plan to improve Windows 11 performance on devices with 8GB of RAM, as part of its efforts to reduce memory consumption and boost system responsiveness. According to Oman News Agency, Corporate Vice President of Design and Research for Windows and Devices at Microsoft Marcus Ash explained that the company is approaching performance optimization as a multi-faceted challenge, encompassing everything from user interface design to the system kernel and drivers, to deliver the best possible performance for devices with limited specifications. He added that the company is reviewing the mechanisms for preloading applications and determining the appropriate duration for them to remain in memory, which allows for the release of resources when application usage decreases or more system space is needed, in addition to improving the user experience when memory is full by making it easier to detect and close unnecessary applications. These steps come after the head of Microsoft's Windows division affirmed that the company is working to address the challenges of modern applications consuming high amounts of memory on devices with 8GB of RAM, given the rising costs of RAM and its impact on the prices of computers and smartphones. Through these improvements, Microsoft seeks to enhance the efficiency of the Windows 11 system and increase its competitiveness against competing systems. Memory management and performance improvements are expected to be rolled out gradually to users before the end of this year as part of a comprehensive system development plan.
