Ministry of Culture to Honor Outstanding Athletes for 2025

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth will honor tomorrow (Wednesday) the outstanding individuals in the sports field for the year 2025: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth has announced an event to recognize 550 athletes from 52 sports institutions and authorities. These athletes have collectively achieved over 300 medals after participating in 69 global, continental, international, regional, and Arab competitions. According to Oman News Agency, the ceremony will be held under the auspices of Sheikh Al Fadhl Mohammed Al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers. The ministry has honored athletes annually to acknowledge their efforts and motivate continued excellence. The success attributed to these athletes results from the combined efforts of technical and administrative staff and players, who followed action plans, programs, and training camps. Their achievements include 117 gold, 91 silver, and 97 bronze medals. Among the national teams being honored is the beach handball t eam, which won the Asian Championship, and the hockey team, winner of the Asian Cup. The ceremony also acknowledges the shooting team for securing a silver medal at the Asian Cup and the powerlifting team players who won two bronze medals at the Asian Championship. The bodybuilding team is recognized for winning three silver and four bronze medals at the World Bodybuilding Championship, in addition to several Asian medals. The national billiards team is also celebrated for winning a gold medal at the World Billiards Qualifiers. The event will further honor the national taekwondo team, which earned a silver medal at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships, and the national maritime sports team, which claimed a gold medal at the World Team Racing Championship in sailing. Additional recognition is given to the diving team for winning a silver medal at the World Underwater Activities Championship, and the Special Olympics national team, which secured one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals at the Special O lympics World Winter Games.
