New York, Ambassador Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 11th Ministerial Meeting of the Friends of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The director general underscored Bahrain's support for the efforts of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation in monitoring nuclear tests and containing the resulting radiological hazards. She also noted the Kingdom's firm policy of supporting efforts aimed at disarming weapons of mass destruction and preventing their proliferation to preserve regional and international peace and security. Al Dhaen underscored the importance of the international community uniting to uphold the organisation's principles and objectives, which aim to enforce global standards prohibiting nuclear testing in line with international standards. At the end of the meeting, a joint stateme nt was issued emphasising the importance of adhering to international standards regarding the prohibition of nuclear tests. Source: Bahrain News Agency
