MSX Organizes Sustainability Forum 2026

Muscat: Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) today organized 'Sustainability Forum 2026', hosted by the Port of Salalah. The forum brought together representatives from companies listed on the MSX, government units, and other parties concerned.

According to Oman News Agency, the forum aimed to foster dialogue and exchange expertise on the best practices in enhancing disclosure, sustainability, corporate governance, and investor relations. Haitham bin Salim Al Salmi, CEO of MSX, emphasized the importance of transparency and corporate responsibility in shaping a sustainable investment environment and consolidating confidence in the capital market. He also highlighted the role of enhancing investor relations practices and supporting research and analysis coverage of listed companies.

Mohammed bin Aufait Al Mashani, CEO of Corporate Affairs at the Port of Salalah, stated that hosting the forum reflects the port's commitment to supporting sustainability practices and developing disclosure and governance practices in line with international standards. Al Mashani elaborated on the port's efforts to integrate sustainability principles into its operations, focusing on operational efficiency and enhancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) responsibility.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion session, where participants made several recommendations emphasizing the importance of upgrading sustainability disclosures. It was noted that listed companies have achieved full compliance with sustainability disclosure requirements. The session also highlighted the need to align with the Financial Services Authority's directives on applying international standards for sustainability and utilizing digital platforms to improve disclosure efficiency and communication with investors.

Further recommendations included encouraging analytical coverage and financial research for listed companies, aiming to boost fair and efficient share pricing and attract a broader range of local and international investors.
