Murder Toll from Israeli Aggression on Lebanon Exceeds 3,000 People: OCHA.

Beirut: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) affirmed that more than 3,000 people have been killed and more than 13,000 others have been injured so far, as the Israeli aggression on Lebanon continues and intensifies. According to Oman News Agency, OCHA reported in its latest update that the current murder toll is 58 percent higher than the 34-day conflict in 2006. Additionally, an estimated 1.3 million people have been displaced, both within Lebanon and into neighboring countries, a figure that represents a 33 percent increase compared to the previous war. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health indicated that among the victims, 185 were children, with 1,206 others injured since 7 October 2023. The UN office highlighted that the intensifying Israeli airstrikes and displacement orders have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian crisis. Since 23 September 2024, over 160 villages and 130 buildings in conflict-affected regions have received displacement orders from the Israeli occupation army. These orders have compelled residents to flee their homes immediately, posing significant risks and challenges as families struggle to find safety amidst ongoing hostilities. Meanwhile, the education sector faces challenges, with at least 60 percent of public schools repurposed as shelters and nearly 400 schools closed due to insecurity or damage. However, efforts are underway to gradually bring children back to learning. Lebanon's flash appeal, which seeks $426 million in support, remains underfunded at only 21 percent of the required amount.
