North A’Sharqiyah Focuses on Enhancing Water Desalination Efforts

Muscat: The Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in North A'Sharqiyah Governorate today organized a gathering on the importance of water desalination units in the governorate. The gathering saw the participation of representatives of private sector establishments, farmers, investors, and technicians.

According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Mashaikhi, Director General of Agriculture and Water Resources in North A'Sharqiyah Governorate, stated that the gathering was one of the outcomes of food security laboratories and forums being held in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. Al Mashaikhi added that the gathering aimed to activate water desalination units to boost the objectives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources for achieving sustainable food and water security.

The meeting included presentations by private sector establishments and a session to answer the queries of attendees. During the meeting, held at the branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Ibra, a partnership agreement was signed by the Ministry and Nada Al Rabee Company to provide technical support to citizens whose farms are impacted by salinity. The agreement provides for the installation of water desalination units in the interest of such farmers.
