OCCI Organizes Conference on Role of Social Intelligence in Achieving Sustainable Development in Dhofar

Dhofar: Dhofar branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) is organizing a two-day conference titled 'Role of social intelligence in achieving sustainable development in Dhofar Governorate.' The 2026 edition of the conference, which began in Salalah today, is being held in cooperation with Salalah Center for Legal Studies and Training. The event sees the participation of community members, employees from different sectors, professionals, entrepreneurs and university students.

According to Oman News Agency, the conference explores human communication and listening skills in the management of reputation and the establishment of sustainable institutional strategies. It also studies legal, economic and social consequences of weak social competence and elaborates on ways to harness artificial intelligence technologies to serve human development in a manner that does not conflict with society's norms and ethics.

Dr. Said bin Masoud Al Kathiri, Head of Salalah Center for Legal Studies and Training, said that the conference aims to consolidate concepts related to social intelligence and differentiate social intelligence from emotional intelligence. Dr. Said added that the conference seeks to support institutions in integrating social intelligence into the work environment, to raise public awareness about the legal, economic and social consequences of weak social competence and to draft recommendations for building a knowledge-based environment for future generations to integrate into the labor market and society.

The conference sessions will discuss topics related to social intelligence in work environments, mechanisms for social self-development, and the use of artificial intelligence techniques to understand personality patterns and enhance social skills. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Dr. Said bin Humaid Al Harthi, Wali of Salalah.
