Singapore: The Oman national cricket team commenced its campaign in the Asian qualifiers for the 20th Asian Games "Aichi-Nagoya 2026" with a significant victory over Singapore by a margin of 7 runs. The match was held today as part of Group II fixtures of the qualifiers, which Singapore is hosting from 31 May to 9 June. According to Oman News Agency, the qualifiers feature seven Asian teams competing for four qualification slots to the Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Japan from 17 September to 3 October. The national team continues its qualifying campaign with a match against Bahrain this Wednesday, followed by a fixture against Hong Kong next Friday, as part of the Group II first round. According to the tournament format, the top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals, where the qualified teams will compete for the four top positions that secure qualification for the Asian Games.
