Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 56th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights, held in Cairo, Egypt. Oman's delegation was represented by Saud Saleh Al Maawali, Deputy Head of the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
According to Oman News Agency, the session took place at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo and focused on adopting the recommendations of the 55th session. Key topics of discussion included confronting Israeli violations and racist practices in the occupied Arab territories, addressing the issue of Arab prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails, and other related matters concerning Israeli violations.
The session further reviewed the work strategy of the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee. An important outcome of the meeting was the approval of the theme for the upcoming Arab Human Rights Day in 2026, which is scheduled to be observed on March 16th each year.
