Tunis: The Sultanate of Oman, through its Ministry of Information, took part in the 115th session of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) held in Tunisia. This participation underscores Oman's commitment to enhancing media collaboration among Arab nations.
According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Mohammed Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. The meeting agenda included discussions on media issues related to radio, television, engineering, and emerging media platforms. It also covered topics related to the Arab Radio and Television Festival.
The council further deliberated on media backing for the Palestinian cause and discussed the Union's activities regarding new media, radio, television, and news programming exchanges. Preparations for the upcoming Arab Radio and Television Festival, themed "The Pulse of the Image and the Echo of the Future", were also on the table.
Additionally, a report from the Arab Centre for Radio and Television Training in Damascus praised Oman for its contributions to delivering numerous in-person training courses in Muscat. Omani personnel's participation in training programs conducted by both the Centre and the Union's Academy for Media Training in Tunis was highlighted.
The meeting also stressed the significance of utilizing artificial intelligence in media work, aiming to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. It emphasized organizing specialized training courses in artificial intelligence to enhance media personnel's skills, enabling them to effectively engage with modern technologies across various media domains.
Oman's involvement in the ASBU Executive Council meetings aligns with its objective to fortify Arab media cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise across different fields of media work.
