Barcelona: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the meeting of the Executive Bureau of the International Council on Archives (ICA), held on the sidelines of the ICA Congress in Barcelona, Spain. This meeting is one of the most prominent periodic gatherings held by the International Council on Archives during 27-31 October to discuss general policies and future work programs in the field of archiving and records management. It saw broad participation from specialists, experts, and representatives of archival institutions from countries around the world. According to Oman News Agency, the sessions addressed a set of shared topics, including the development of future strategies for the International Council, enhancing its role in supporting archival institutions worldwide, and adopting resolutions aimed at improving cooperation mechanisms and the exchange of knowledge and expertise among members. This contributes to solidifying the role of archives as fundamental sources of human memory and historical knowledg e. The National Records and Archives Authority represented the Sultanate of Oman at this international event, affirming its pioneering role in supporting and developing archival work at both the Arab and international levels. This stems from Oman's keenness to enhance its presence in international forums specialized in the fields of archiving and records management and to adopt the latest global practices in the field of digital document preservation and management, aligning with "Oman Vision 2040" in promoting the Sultanate of Oman's status as a leading center in the documents and archives sector. The Authority's delegation participated in several meetings and specialized sessions within the conference's activities, including the meeting of the Arab Branch of the International Council on Archives and the General Assembly of the Council. These discussions explored ways to enhance professional cooperation and exchange expertise between regional and international archival institutions, alongside reviewing the latest technological developments in the fields of digital archiving, records management, and artificial intelligence. The International Council on Archives Congress serves as a global platform bringing together over two thousand specialists and experts in traditional and digital archiving fields. This provides an opportunity to enhance communication and build partnerships with entities involved in developing modern technologies for digital preservation, knowledge management, and digital repositories.
