Kuwait City: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 27th meeting of the GCC E-Government Executive Committee, which was hosted by the State of Kuwait. Oman's delegation was led by Eng. Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Kharousi, Director General of Digital Transformation and Sector Enablement at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
According to Oman News Agency, the committee engaged in discussions on various agenda items. These included reviewing the General Secretariat's report on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting, initiatives under the GCC's guiding strategy for e-government, and topics related to shared e-services among GCC states. The meeting also covered the unified software procurement for GCC countries and initiatives related to artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.
The committee examined the general framework for supporting AI applications in public services across GCC countries and discussed the climate prediction and disaster management initiative using AI, both prepared by Oman. Additionally, criteria for the GCC Digital Government Award were reviewed during the meeting.
