Cairo: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 37th session of the Arab Transport Ministers' Council, in addition to the 73rd session of the executive council and the 29th session of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport. These meetings focused on enhancing collaboration in transportation sectors across Arab nations. According to Oman News Agency, Oman's delegation at the Arab Transport Ministers' Council and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport was led by Abdullah Nassir Al Rahbi, the country's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League. The delegation for the executive council meeting was headed by Advisor Dr. Ahmed Salim Ja'aboub. The discussions centered around supporting the Palestinian economy and implementing a strategic plan for sectoral development in Jerusalem from 2018 to 2022. The meetings emphasized the importance of integration in land, sea, and air transport to facilitate movement and trade among Arab countries. T he gatherings also focused on promoting transport sector infrastructure to aid sustainable development and adapt to modern technological advancements. Topics of cooperation regarding security and safety in maritime and air transport were addressed, aiming to enhance passenger safety and reduce risks. The session of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport explored ways to develop the Academy's efficiency to support joint Arab initiatives. Reports and recommendations from the Academy's Executive Council sessions were reviewed, along with plans to establish a new branch in Mauritania to broaden the Academy's services. The meetings highlighted the significance of innovation and smart technologies in boosting the efficiency of the transportation sector and achieving sustainable development objectives.
