Oman Football Association Announces Draw Results for Women’s Futsal League

Muscat: The Women's Committee of Oman Football Association has announced the results of the draw for the Women's Futsal League for the 2026/2027 sports season, featuring the participation of nine clubs. The league competitions are set to commence in September of this year in Muscat Governorate.

According to Oman News Agency, the draw results revealed the distribution of participating clubs into two groups. Group One comprises Al Shabab Club, Salalah Club, Al Amerat Club, Qurayyat Club and Sohar Club, while Group Two includes Fanja Club, Al-Bashayer Club, Masirah Club and Saham Club.

Hajar Khamis Al Muzaini, member of the Board of Directors of Oman Football Association and Chairwoman of the Women's Committee, stated that domestic competitions serve as the fundamental pillar for the development of women's football, providing a sustained competitive environment that contributes to talent identification and the technical, physical, and mental development of players.

She further emphasized that the league constitutes a vital platform for player monitoring and performance evaluation, which directly impacts the quality of selection options available to the national teams across various age categories in the upcoming phase.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, she explained that following the closure of registration for clubs wishing to participate, Oman Football Association ensured the convening of an introductory meeting with club representatives. During this session, the tournament regulations and system were reviewed, and all organizational and technical aspects were discussed to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities.

The preparatory phase also includes the implementation of a comprehensive package of training courses and workshops tailored for team administrators, match observers and referees, aimed at enhancing the competence of national cadres and fostering a professional environment conducive to the success of the new season.

She added that the teams were allocated into two groups in accordance with the draw results, and the league will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, teams will be classified into two groups following a specific mechanism, with the top-placed teams from each group advancing to the second stage of the league, which will be contested under a home-and-away round-robin format within a single group.

Meanwhile, the lower-ranked clubs will compete in a separate competition designated as the "Talent Cup," designed to increase the number of competitive matches and elevate the technical standards of both clubs and players, she pointed out.
