Oman Leads Arab Parliamentary Coordination in Tanzania

Arusha:The Sultanate of Oman took the lead in chairing the coordination meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Group held in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania. Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, headed Oman's delegation at the meeting.

According to Oman News Agency, the session focused on aligning Arab parliamentary stances on various issues on the agenda of the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly meetings. Participants reviewed speeches from candidates for the position of Chairman of the IPU and discussed an emergency item proposed by the Arab Group. The meeting also resulted in a consensus on the Arab Group's nominees for vacant positions within the IPU's standing and subsidiary committees, as well as the appointment of parliamentarians for consultations aimed at achieving peaceful coexistence in the Middle East.

Additionally, Oman chaired a coordination meeting of GCC legislative councils, which took place alongside the IPU assembly sessions.

In a separate engagement, Al Maawali met with Mussa Azzan Zungu, Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania. Their discussions focused on enhancing legislative cooperation between the Shura Council and Tanzania's National Assembly, with an emphasis on exchanging views, sharing experiences, and strengthening ties in the areas of economy, tourism, and investment.
