Muscat: Oman Olympic Committee, represented by the Omani Athletes Committee, organized the Elite Forum for athletes participating in the 20th Asian Games 'Aichi-Nagoya 2026', scheduled to be held next September.
According to Oman News Agency, the organization of the forum is part of the Oman Olympic Committee's efforts to enhance the readiness of athletes participating in the Asian Games. The goal is to prepare them with essential knowledge and information that will support their participation and representation of the Sultanate of Oman. It also aims to promote direct communication between athletes, the Omani Athletes Committee, and related entities.
The Sultanate of Oman will be competing in the Games through ten national teams in various sports, including athletics, taekwondo, shooting, hockey, golf, fencing, cricket, weightlifting, sailing, and beach volleyball.
The forum covered several awareness and knowledge pillars focusing on the sports, administrative, health, psychological, and legal aspects of athletes' participation in major sports events. It included raising awareness about athletes' rights and duties in line with Olympic Movement principles, promoting athlete protection, ensuring a safe sports environment, spreading awareness about anti-doping, and compliance with international regulations and rules. Additionally, it emphasized enhancing psychological well-being and stress management related to major competitions.
The forum also aimed to familiarize athletes with administrative procedures, travel arrangements, and the official representation of the Sultanate of Oman. It sought to clarify roles and responsibilities and elevate readiness levels before and during their participation in the Games.
The forum's program included a variety of presentations, awareness sessions, and panel discussions focusing on athletes' readiness for the Asian Games. It concluded with a panel discussion, offering athletes a platform to interact, raise inquiries, and discuss topics related to their participation in the Asian Games. The session also allowed for exchanging views and raising challenges and needs with the Omani Athletes Committee and related entities.
