Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman participated via video-conferencing in the 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the theme 'An Arab Parliamentary Vision for a More Stable and Sustainable Future.' The Sultanate was represented by Said Hamad Al Saadi, Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, alongside heads of Arab councils and parliaments and representatives of Arab parliamentary delegations. According to Oman News Agency, the participants discussed the Secretary-General's report regarding the implementation of resolutions from the 38th conference, as well as the recent activities of the AIPU General Secretariat. They also reviewed recommendations from the Executive Committee aimed at developing regulatory and legislative frameworks to enhance the effectiveness of joint Arab parliamentary action. The conference featured discussions on several organizational and fiscal tracks to ensure institutional sustainability. Furthermore, it addressed ways t o strengthen the Arab presence within the broader Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and improve coordination mechanisms for international parliamentary nominations and positions. Attendees also followed up on the progress of the Palestine Committee and explored avenues for expanding cooperation among Arab parliaments to support joint Arab action and navigate emerging regional and international challenges.
