Washington: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Critical Minerals Ministerial in the U.S. capital, Washington, organized by the U.S. Department of State. The event was inaugurated by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. According to Oman News Agency, the Sultanate of Oman was represented by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister. The event saw participation from foreign ministers, senior officials, and representatives of governments and international institutions from countries around the world. The event addressed the importance of critical minerals in supporting the global renaissance across technological sectors, advanced industries, and the digital and knowledge economy. It also highlighted challenges associated with investing in critical minerals mining, supply security, and price volatility. Participants explored ways to build reliable and sustainable partnerships, enhance transparency, and exchange expertise in exploration, development, processing, and trade of these vital minerals. The discussions included mechanisms to strengthen multilateral international cooperation, encourage responsible investment, and develop regulatory frameworks for sustainable global supply chains. Sayyid Badr emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation based on mutual trust and common interests. He noted that collective action among participating nations is essential for achieving the desired resilience of global supply chains. He stressed the need to maintain market stability, secure the growing demands of future industries, and support innovation and technological progress.
