Muscat:Oman Sail and bp Oman have officially launched the third edition of the SailFree Programme, following a contract signing ceremony at the Children's Public Library. This initiative builds upon a successful partnership that has enabled hundreds of persons with disabilities across Oman to engage in sailing, represent their country internationally, and navigate life with fewer barriers.
According to Oman News Agency, the agreement was signed by Najla Zuhair Al Jamali, President of bp Oman, and Dr. Khamis Salim Al Jabri, CEO of Oman Sail. The SailFree Programme aims to foster personal growth, social integration, and competitive excellence among its participants.
The third edition of SailFree will enhance participants' technical sailing abilities, independence, and life skills. It offers a structured pathway from introductory sessions to advanced training, providing opportunities for participants to represent Oman at regional and international levels.
Operating within a safe, accessible, and adaptive learning environment, SailFree is committed to championing equal opportunities, promoting teamwork and leadership, and raising awareness about the capabilities of persons with disabilities.
Since its inception in 2019, the SailFree Programme has emerged as a pioneering para sailing initiative. It has introduced many individuals with physical impairments to the sport and established a model for athletic development and social integration. The programme's impact on inclusion was highlighted when Oman Sail hosted the inaugural World Sailing Inclusion Championships in 2025, where SailFree participants competed alongside over 100 sailors from around the world.
