Oman Space Conference 2026 Focuses on National Space Sector Development

Muscat:Oman Space Conference 2026 was held in Muscat, gathering 70 representatives from government, industry, and academia to discuss the future of the nation's space sector.

According to Oman News Agency, the conference was organized by "Space Tech in Gulf" in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. It addressed key topics related to the development of Oman's space industry, including sector priorities, space technology applications, and opportunities for collaboration among stakeholders.

The event emphasized Oman's national space policy, schedule, and executive program as they align with Oman Vision 2040. It explored the use of Earth observation applications and space data to enhance government services and improve efficiency in sectors such as agriculture and the environment.

The conference also highlighted the importance of developing national capabilities, supporting local space-sector companies, and fostering partnerships between public and private sectors, as well as academia. The goal is to establish an integrated national space system.

Discussions included strategies for localizing space technologies and services, consolidating national capabilities, and supporting strategic interests and national security. The event reviewed space policies, international cooperation, and investment opportunities.

The conference underscored the growing global importance of the space sector in economic and knowledge-based development, aiming to maximize the use of space technologies and data to address development challenges and enhance Oman's readiness to benefit from the space economy.
