Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its support for the joint statement made by the foreign ministers of multiple European countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden. This statement rejects the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and advocates for actions to prevent trade associated with settlements considered illegal under international law.
According to Oman News Agency, Oman's Foreign Ministry released a statement emphasizing that the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements in these territories is a breach of international law and United Nations resolutions. The ministry urged the global community to take decisive action to eliminate any barriers to the full and legitimate independence of the Palestinian state based on the 4 June 1967 borders, aiming for a just and comprehensive peace.
Additionally, Oman called on international entities to implement practical measures to discourage Israeli settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territories. The appeal included ensuring adherence to international law and humanitarian law while preventing efforts to change the demographic and geographic reality of the State of Palestine and safeguarding the Palestinian people's rights to their land.
