Amman:Oman's national volleyball team is participating in the 24th Arab Men's Volleyball Championship, hosted by Jordan. The tournament begins today and will continue until October 15 at the Arena Hall in Amman, featuring teams from Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.
According to Oman News Agency, Oman is set to face Algeria in their opening match later this evening at 6:00 pm Oman time. The team will then compete against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday at 5:00 pm, followed by a match with Kuwait on Friday, October 9, at 7:00 pm. Oman will play against the host nation, Jordan, on Sunday, October 11, at 7:00 pm, and conclude their matches against Bahrain on Wednesday, October 14.
The championship follows a single round-robin format, with the top team earning the championship title and gold medals, the second-place team receiving silver medals, and the third-place team taking bronze. Oman finished fourth in the previous edition and secured a bronze medal in the 22nd edition.
Significantly, 12 teams from the 18 member states of the Arab Volleyball Federation, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt, are not participating in this tournament. This absence is expected to have a notable impact on the technical level of the competition.
