The Sultanate of Oman welcomes the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the draft resolution on advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the legal consequences arising from Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem (Al Quds). Oman considers this resolution a crucial step in supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, most notably their right to self-determination and their right to establish their own independent state on the 1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital. Oman also stresses the need for the international community to adhere to the principles of international law and relevant UN resolutions, noting that such action would contribute to termination of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and accomplishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region.
