Muscat: The 5th edition of the Oman Electricity and Energy Conference (2026) is set to begin on 12 October 2026. Hosted by Nama Electricity Distribution Company, in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the event aims to highlight key issues related to the electricity and energy sector.
According to Oman News Agency, the 3-day conference is expected to gather 5,000 participants from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad. The event will focus on future prospects for electricity generation and distribution, the evolution of wireless power transmission via ultrasonic waves, and updates in electricity storage and recovery during high demand periods.
Speakers at a press conference held at the premises of Nama Electricity Distribution Company emphasized that the conference will showcase the latest global technologies in electricity production, power generation, and distribution. The event will also tackle global challenges in electricity production and the optimal use of natural resources for power generation.
Eng. Khalfan bin Nasser Al Bartamani, Chief Commercial Officer at Nama Electricity Distribution Company, stated that the press conference, organized in cooperation with the IEEE, aimed to outline the salient features of the conference. Al Bartamani noted that the conference has seen development by addressing key themes like energy transmission tracks and grid resilience, highlighting Oman's efforts to advance renewable energy, enhance energy efficiency and storage, drive digital transition, produce green hydrogen, and reduce carbon emissions.
The 5th edition is expected to be the largest gathering to date, attracting 5,000 professionals from government institutions, regulatory bodies, technology firms, consultancies, research centers, and the energy sector at large. Participants will share expertise and explore future solutions for generating energy in a smarter, more resilient, and sustainable manner.
Eng. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al Wahaibi, Chair of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (Oman Section), stated that the conference plays a significant role in advancing Oman's energy ecosystem by fostering knowledge exchange and supporting the development of the national energy sector.
