Kineshma: The Sultanate of Oman's Al Dan Theatre Troupe for Culture and Art is set to participate in the 8th edition of Ostrovsky Fest, scheduled to take place in Kineshma, Russia, from 18 to 23 August 2026. This marks a significant cultural exchange as the troupe prepares to stage the drama 'A Bite of Bread', penned by Omani playwright Mohammed bin Said Al Rawahi. According to Oman News Agency, Mohammed bin Salim Al Nabhani, Head of Al Dan Theatre Troupe, emphasized that the troupe's involvement in the Russian festival is the result of extensive planning and global engagement. He noted that this participation not only fosters cultural dialogue but also serves as a platform to share Omani artistic experiences on an international scale. Scenographer Mahmoud bin Salim Al Makhroumi added that Al Dan's participation is an effort to illustrate the progressive development of Omani theatre and highlight the strengthening cultural ties between Oman and Russia. 'A Bite of Bread' has been a staple of Omani theatre, having been performed over 40 times since its debut in 2017. Its success is highlighted by numerous accolades in both Arab and European countries, showcasing the global appeal and recognition of Omani theatrical works.
