El Eulma:Algeria The Sultanate of Oman is showcasing its cinematic talent at the Algeria International Contemporary Cinema Days with its short film "Beta Carotene." Directed by Mohammed Al Daroushi, the film is part of the inaugural events taking place at the Regional Theatre in El Eulma, Algeria.
According to Oman News Agency, the event features artistic works from 13 countries and will continue until November 4, 2026. "Beta Carotene" stands out for its portrayal of Oman's natural landscapes and unique geological lakes, which are known for their vibrant natural colors due to the presence of beta carotene, a substance linked to marine algae.
The Omani film is part of the festival's official competition, which includes 30 short films that were selected from 420 submissions reviewed by the festival's jury in May 2026. Each film in the competition ranges from 15 to 30 minutes in duration.
Oman's participation is not only about showcasing its film industry but also about fostering cultural and cinematic exchanges between nations, thereby building bridges of communication across different cultures.
