Oman’s Pavilion Opens at 29th Climate Summit in Azerbaijan.

BAKU: The Sultanate of Oman's pavilion was inaugurated at the 29th Climate Summit held in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the attendance of international negotiators. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals and the chief guest of the event, emphasized Oman's commitment to the agreed-upon items from both previous and current meetings. He highlighted the practical measures Oman has implemented towards energy transition and carbon emission reduction. According to Oman News Agency, the minister underscored the importance of dialogue between oil and gas producers and advocates of energy transition, noting the world's need for all types of energy, implemented in a clean manner. Despite announced commitments by various countries, he pointed out that funding remains a significant challenge, with the sources of funding still unresolved. The Minister of Energy and Minerals further elaborated on the focus of Oman's pavilion at the summit, which showcases the nation's efforts towards energy transition and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The pavilion also highlights the Environment Authority's role and environmental achievements, as well as projects related to emission reduction and energy transformation, particularly in sectors like industry, electricity generation, oil and gas, and transportation. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, characterized Oman's participation in the summit as successful, having effectively showcased national efforts in environmental conservation. The pavilion provided insights into projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions, and advancements in renewable and solar energy, alongside green hydrogen initiatives. A discussion panel hosted at the pavilion featured ministers from Arab and foreign countries, UN experts, and specialized organizations. Dr. Al Amri emphasized the extensive participation from Oman, with over 200 representatives from various state institutions, underlining the nation's unified approach to achieving its climate goals, especially the National Strategy for Zero Neutrality. The pavilion also introduced the public to Oman's renewable and clean energy projects and its policies to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
