Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by its National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, along with the National Committee for Combating Terrorism, is actively participating in the 39th General Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). This significant meeting is being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 16 to 21, 2024. According to Oman News Agency, Oman's delegation is headed by Tahir Salim Al Amri, who serves as the Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism. During the meeting, the Mutual Evaluation Report on the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Systems for Oman was reviewed and subsequently approved. The General Meeting commended the high results achieved by Oman's Mutual Evaluation Report, highlighting its adherence to international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) . It was emphasized that Oman's report on combating systems is considered the best within the Middle East and North Africa region. The mutual evaluation process involves a collaborative effort between the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). The report detailing the systems in Oman had been previously discussed at the FATF General Meeting, which took place from October 21 to 25, 2024, in Paris, France.
