Oman’s SailFree Team to Compete at World Sailing Inclusion Championship 2026

Portimo:Sailors from Oman Sail's SailFree programme are set to participate in the World Sailing Inclusion Championship 2026 in Portimo, Portugal, from 30 September to 11 October 2026. According to Oman News Agency, this event marks a significant milestone for the SailFree team, part of a collaboration between Oman Sail and bp Oman, following their participation in the inaugural championship in Mussanah. The competition offers the sailors an opportunity to gain international experience, enhance their skills, and represent Oman on a global stage. The delegation traveling to Portugal comprises athletes, technical staff, and a support team. Nawaf Al Ghadani, the Team Leader, expressed the honor of representing Oman at such a prestigious event, highlighting the sailors' dedication and progress. He emphasized that competing in Portimo will test their skills and build confidence. Coach Haitham Al Wahaibi noted the championship's importance for the team's development. He pointed out that beyond technical challenge s, the event supports the goal of creating a sustainable pathway from basic training to high-performance competition. He expressed confidence in the team's ability to gain valuable experience and improve their capabilities. Participation in international regattas aligns with Oman Sail and bp Oman's objectives for the SailFree programme, aiming to provide structured opportunities for people with disabilities to advance in sailing, increase awareness of adaptive sports, and promote equal opportunities within the community.
