Muscat: OpenAI announced improvements to its chatbot, ChatGPT, aimed at enhancing its capability to detect signs of mental or emotional distress in users. This initiative precedes the upcoming launch of its highly anticipated GPT-5 AI model. According to Oman News Agency, the company is collaborating with experts and specialized advisory groups to refine ChatGPT's responses in sensitive situations. This collaboration intends to ensure that the chatbot can provide reliable, evidence-based sources when needed, enhancing user support during critical moments. This update follows a surge in reports from recent months where users claimed that relatives experienced psychological distress exacerbated by ChatGPT. Concerns were raised that the chatbot might reinforce delusions or false perceptions, prompting OpenAI to take action to mitigate such risks.
