The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that 11,001 students have been martyred and 17,772 injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on 7 October 2023. In a statement released today, the Ministry clarified that the number of students martyred in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression has reached more than 10,888, with 17,224 injured. In the occupied West Bank, 113 students have been martyred, 548 injured, and 429 arrested. The Ministry also noted that 529 teachers and administrative staff have been martyred, and 3,686 injured in both Gaza and the West Bank, with more than 129 arrested in the occupied West Bank. It further highlighted that 362 public schools, universities, and university-affiliated buildings, along with 65 facilities belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), have been subjected to bombing and destruction in the Gaza Strip. Among these, 124 were severely damaged, and 62 were complete ly destroyed. Additionally, 69 schools and 5 universities in the occupied West Bank were stormed and vandalized. In Gaza, 133 public schools have been used as shelters. The Ministry emphasized that 718,000 students in the Gaza Strip remain deprived of attending their schools and universities since the start of the aggression, with most students suffering from psychological trauma and facing difficult health conditions.
