Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) marked its Annual Day, which aligns with the 25th of January each year, hosting a graduation ceremony for the Basic Officer Candidate Course and the Limited Service/University Graduate Officer Candidate Course.
According to Oman News Agency, the event took place at the military parade grounds of Ghala Base and Sultan Qaboos Air Academy, with HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers, presiding over the ceremony. The proceedings began with the graduates offering a military salute to the arriving chief guest, accompanied by the RAFO band playing the Royal Anthem. HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil then inspected the front column of the graduates.
The ceremony featured an infantry parade led by the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy's standard, as graduates marched past the dais to military music. HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil awarded the Sword of Honour to Flying Lieutenant Al Farooq Hamad Al Jabri for his outstanding performance in the Basic Officer Candidates Course and honoured Air Lieutenant Abdulrahman Nabhan Al Amri for his achievements in the Limited Service and University Officer Recruits Course.
A significant moment during the event was the handover of the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy's standard from the graduating batch to the trainees, who pledged to uphold the Academy's values. Graduating officers also chanted the RAFO anthem, took an oath of loyalty, and expressed their allegiance to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander.
The ceremony included an airshow by RAFO fighter aircraft, showcasing the force's modernization and capabilities. The event concluded with the RAFO band playing the Royal Anthem and a variety of military melodies, highlighting the band's musical proficiency and modern equipment.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Royal family, ministers, commanders of the Sultan's Armed Forces, and other military and security officials, along with invited guests.
