Muscat:The Royal Academy of Management has partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources to launch the National Leadership Development Programme in the Food Security Sector. This initiative aims to bolster national efforts in establishing a sustainable and resilient food security system.
According to Oman News Agency, the programme was inaugurated under the patronage of Dr Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. It is designed to develop and equip Omani leaders with the capabilities needed to enhance the efficiency of the food security sector.
The strategic initiative focuses on developing leaders involved in the national food security agenda. It encourages them to adopt a strategic perspective that surpasses the traditional concept of self-sufficiency, aiming for a resilient model that anticipates risks, diversifies supply sources, and strengthens sectoral integration.
Targeting 35 leaders from various sectors, including government, private, academic, research, banking, and civil society, the programme sets clear selection criteria. Participants must have at least 12 years of professional experience, with a minimum of five years in leadership roles.
Dr. Fathiya Abdullah Al Rashdi, the Assistant President for Programmes at the Royal Academy of Management, stated that the programme is a significant step towards preparing leaders to effectively manage the sector's rapid changes and developments.
Dr. Masoud Sulaiman Al Azri, Director General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing, emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors and adopting innovations and technologies to enhance the sector's resilience and sustainability.
Maha Mohammed Al Habsi, the Programme Supervisor, explained that the programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring participants develop practical solutions and strengthen their leadership skills.
The three-month programme includes modules, field visits, dialogue sessions with experts, and a collaborative project addressing key sector challenges. It covers nine strategic themes aimed at advancing national food security towards greater sustainability and efficiency.
