Muscat: The Royal Hospital, in collaboration with the Sabah Al-Ahmad Urology Center in Kuwait, has successfully executed the first remote urological surgery utilizing advanced robotic technology.
According to Oman News Agency, the operation marks a significant Gulf achievement. The robotic system allowed surgical teams in Muscat and Kuwait to collaborate seamlessly through a secure, high-speed communication platform. This technology enabled real-time control of surgical instruments and provided high-definition, three-dimensional visualization. The advanced setup enhanced safety, minimized the need for invasive procedures, and expedited patient recovery.
Dr. Qais Al Hooti, Consultant and Head of the Urology Department at the Royal Hospital, highlighted the importance of this milestone for the institution, celebrating the successful completion of the first remote surgery using a robotic system between Oman and Kuwait.
Dr. Saad Al Dousari, Consultant Urologist and Head of the Surgery Department at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Urology Center, described the event as a historic milestone for Gulf cooperation. He noted that the partnership between Oman and Kuwait is strategic, with this operation carrying significant weight and aligning with the visions of both countries.
