Muscat: The Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) has commenced a three-day forum in the Dhofar Governorate. The event began with an opening ceremony presided over by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar.
According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi, Deputy Chairman of ROARS, emphasized the forum's significance in realizing the society's vision to benefit the community. He highlighted the crucial role amateur radio operators play in supporting communication systems during emergencies.
The opening ceremony featured a presentation detailing the origins and development of amateur radio, along with its critical role during crises. Attendees also viewed a documentary that showcased ROARS' achievements. Following the ceremony, HH Sayyid Marwan explored an exhibition that displayed wireless devices and an interactive gallery designed for children.
The forum's objectives include introducing digital communication systems, recording and management programs, and satellite communication mechanisms. Over the course of the second and third days, participants will engage in training workshops and practical applications on antenna installation and digital station operation. The agenda also includes presentations of amateur experiences, success stories, and training models on setting up field stations and emergency communication systems, aimed at enhancing the preparedness of amateur operators in various scenarios.
