The Secretary-General of the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, Shaher Saad, said that a case will be filed against the Israeli occupation government at the end of this month, with the International Labor Organization through the International Trade Union Confederation, to demand compensation for Palestinian workers in the labor market within the 48 territories. During his interview with state television, Saad revealed that a meeting was held last week via Zoom to discuss the issue of compensation and workers' conditions, which brought together: the Secretary-General of the International Trade Union Confederation and 25 international legal experts, in the presence of Minister of Labor Inas Al-Attari, a team from the ministry, and a team from the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions. He stressed that it was agreed to raise the case because Israel, the occupying power, is a signatory to the International Labour Organization Convention, and therefore can be forced to compensate Palestini an workers. He added that any worker who has a "work permit" has the right to receive compensation from the Israeli occupation government, noting that the lists of the Ministries of Labor and Health for those who receive health insurance will be used to verify the lists of all workers to obtain compensation, and a campaign will be launched to ensure that all workers' names have been added. It is noteworthy that about 150 thousand workers in the West Bank lost their jobs inside the 1948 territories, due to Israeli restrictions imposed on workers' access to workplaces, since last October, according to a World Bank report.
