The 3rd Edition of a forum titled "New Media and the Digital Age" was held in the Wilayat of Salalah today. Organized by Al Roya newspaper in cooperation with Dhofar Municipality, the forum discussed various topics related to Omani media in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Salim Musallam Qatan, Deputy Chairman of the State Council, who later felicitated the participants and establishments that supported the event. Three working papers were presented at the forum. The first dealt with investment opportunities and public awareness in the age of new media; the second outlined the role of AI in shaping the new media and the third elaborated on new applications, opportunities and challenges posed to Omani media. In the same context, two workshops were held, the first of which focused on media content in the age of artificial intelligence, while the second demonstrated means of discovering and addressing electronic forgery in the field of media. Besid es "investment opportunities" in the media field within the context of "digital revolution technologies", the forum provided the participants with guidelines to distinguish between AI-enabled 'authentic' and 'false' media content.
