Al Barakah: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presided over a significant meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al Barakah Palace, focusing on Oman’s economic and social progress, future aspirations, and international relations. The Sultan expressed gratitude for the nation’s achievements and outlined strategic directives for continued growth and development.
According to Oman News Agency, His Majesty began the meeting by offering thanks for the blessings bestowed upon Oman and expressed hopes for continued success in the year 2025. He praised the efforts of the Council of Ministers and various government agencies for their roles in advancing Oman’s development. The Sultan highlighted the positive economic outcomes achieved in 2024, driven by efforts in economic diversification and non-oil revenue growth, which have strengthened the national economy and supported governmental services and projects.
The Sultan provided directives to maintain focus on economic growth and enhance private sector participation through strategic partnerships. He emphasized the importance of the National Local Content Policy to support local industries, reduce import dependence, and increase export volumes. Additionally, he stressed the importance of the 11th Five Year Plan (2026-2030) in aligning with Oman Vision 2040 priorities and generating employment for Omani citizens.
Significant health sector initiatives were also approved during the meeting, including the establishment of the National Genome and Human Data Centre, a National Centre for Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery, and a national program for early cancer detection among women. These initiatives aim to improve healthcare services and support research and development in the medical field.
Social welfare and employment were other focal points, with the Sultan underscoring the importance of the Social Protection Scheme and the National Employment Programme. He called for effective follow-up and assessment of these initiatives to ensure they meet their objectives in providing social stability and employment opportunities for Omanis.
In his concluding remarks, His Majesty addressed the importance of international cooperation and maintaining good relations with Arab and friendly countries. He reiterated Oman’s commitment to its principles and the pursuit of mutual interests through collaboration with global partners.
