Sultan Haitham’s Visit to Kazakhstan Strengthens Bilateral Relations

Muscat:A number of ministers and officials have affirmed that the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said to Kazakhstan marks a significant milestone in Omani-Kazakh relations. This visit led to the signing of 20 cooperation documents across various fields, highlighting a mutual commitment to enhancing relations between the two countries to benefit their peoples.

According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, stated that this historic visit initiates a pivotal phase in the partnership between Oman and Kazakhstan, integrating economic interests with institutional cooperation. The Royal visit has provided momentum to expand cooperation, transforming opportunities into sustainable projects that align with both countries' development priorities.

The strategic partnership between Oman and Kazakhstan leverages Kazakhstan's economic position in Central Asia and Oman's maritime infrastructure, creating opportunities for expanded trade and investment. Key areas for cooperation include energy, minerals, renewable energy, tourism, and services, drawing on both nations' resources and expertise.

Investment and financial frameworks are being strengthened, focusing on developing joint financing instruments and investment protection. This will support long-term projects and bolster investor confidence. Strengthening ties between chambers of commerce and business communities is crucial, enabling the private sector to explore and develop new commercial opportunities.

Cooperation also extends to knowledge exchange, capacity-building, and expertise sharing in various sectors such as administration, health, and diplomacy, contributing to institutional development and fostering closer ties between the two nations' peoples. Politically, the visit facilitates dialogue on regional and international issues, promoting mutual respect and cooperation.

Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority, highlighted the investment partnership's role in economic diplomacy. Strategic partnerships are being pursued in sectors like natural resources, healthcare, and artificial intelligence, contributing to economic diversification and opening pathways for Omani companies.

Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, emphasized the importance of the Agreement on the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments, which provides a legal framework for encouraging investments and fostering long-term partnerships. The agreement is expected to enhance cooperation and leverage the strategic and logistical potential of both countries.

Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomed the establishment of the Omani-Kazakh Joint Business Council. This council aims to enhance communication between business communities, raise awareness of opportunities, and develop partnerships, furthering economic cooperation between Oman and Kazakhstan.
