Muscat:The General Assembly of the Supreme Court held its first meeting for the 2026/2027 judicial year, chaired by Sayyid Khalifa Said Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Supreme Court. The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairmen of the Supreme Court, judges of the Supreme Court, and members of the Public Prosecution.
According to Oman News Agency, the Chairman praised the achievements of the previous judicial year, highlighting a 100 percent adjudication rate for pending appeals in certain circuits. He expressed hopes for further accomplishments in the new judicial year, emphasizing the importance of expeditious justice and the rule of law. The Supreme Judicial Council is committed to practices that ensure the stability of rulings and the swift handling of cases, incorporating modern technology in litigation processes.
The Assembly addressed several topics, including the formation of judicial circuits for the new judicial year, analysis of statistics from the past year, and improvements in judicial and administrative operations of the Supreme Court.
During the last judicial year, the Supreme Court achieved an adjudication rate of 87 percent, with rulings issued in 5,803 out of 6,650 pending cases. Some circuits reached a 100 percent adjudication rate, demonstrating efficiency and stability in legal resolutions.
