Sohar: A meeting was held today in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate, to discuss opportunities and challenges in the governorate's tourism sector. The event was organized by the branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in North Al Batinah Governorate.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting discussed means of streamlining licensing procedures and government services, enhancing the regulation of tourism activities and protecting licensed establishments from unregulated competition. The participants explored ways to develop tourism products and making optimum use of coastal, natural and historical sites, promoting adventure tourism and winter events and generating investment opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The event also discussed matters related to human resources, Omanization and training, in addition to challenges facing travel and tourism agencies.
The meeting was attended by Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, Eng. Said bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the OCCI branch in North Al Batinah, and representatives of government departments and private sector establishments, in addition to businesspeople and investors in the tourism sector.
Tourism and hotel establishments in North Al Batinah Governorate stood at 97 by the end of 2025.
