Twenty-Five Killed as Floods and Landslides Devastate Northern and Eastern India

Muscat: At least 25 people have died in flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains across northern and northeastern India over the weekend, authorities said today. Police reported at least 15 fatalities in separate rain-related incidents in the Poonch, Rajouri, and Doda districts, with several people still missing. According to Oman News Agency, in Nagaland state, a senior official confirmed that nine people had died in landslides caused by persistent rainfall. In neighbouring Assam, the disaster management authority reported one death, with more than 57,000 people affected across seven districts by the floods. The Meteorological Department has warned that monsoon rains will continue to affect northwest, east, and northeast India over the next six to seven days.
