Two Killed as Israel Orders Evacuation of 13 Towns in Southern Lebanon

Beirut: Two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle in southern Lebanon today, as the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for 13 towns, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

According to Oman News Agency, the agency said two people died when an Israeli drone struck a vehicle on the Masilieh Road, following a series of strikes targeting the area between Hadata and Haris in the Bint Jbeil district.

The outskirts of Majdal Zoun and Mansouri came under intermittent artillery shelling, the agency said, adding that Israeli warplanes carried out two strikes on Majdal Zoun, one on Mansouri, and another on the town of Qlaileh in the Tire district.

Israeli aircraft also struck the Maamoura area on the outskirts of Tire, while a drone hit the town of Abbasieh, alongside shelling on the coastal towns of Sidon and Mansouri.

The strikes coincided with Israeli orders for residents of 13 southern towns to evacuate their homes immediately and head north of the Litani River.

Israeli airstrikes across wide areas of southern Lebanon have continued since 16 April 2026.

The latest escalation followed the fourth round of US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel earlier this month, after which a joint statement said both sides had agreed to implement a cessation of hostilities.
